'Gravitational centre.
Some call it premise,
some theme,
some controlling idea. Understanding what is central to your play guides your decisions and allows the elements to pull in the right direction.’
The Anatomy of the Event
Each month we take a single focus and expand our discussion outwards from this point to explore and understand the way elements of your writing combine and speak to an audience. Over the months you will come to understand the interconnectedness of the dramaturgy in your work.

Collaboration
Even a solo playwright needs the skills to collaborate, let alone writing teams setting out on the long voyage of forging a work together. By understanding the dramatugy of your work - what is going on underneath the bonnet to drive the wheels and cogs of your writing - you will become a much better collaborator with the skills to articulate why certain creative choices support, or challenge the dramaturgy of your work.

Identify and Articulate your Thoughts
Instinct and gut are brilliant when everything is going well and all creatives are pulling in the same direction. But nothing beats a more detailed and articulate understanding of your dramaturgy when different elements start to pull in contradictory directions.
